Happy Thanksgiving!

Hey there, y'all...

I haven't posted in many days, and I just wanted to say Happy Thanksgiving to everyone and let y'all know how much I appreciate your support and fan-dom of all my artistic endeavors... I am truly thankful that I get to make music and art and write books in this life instead of mopping floors in a nursing home or shovelling manure or packing boxes in a plant or making my rounds with a hospital crash cart, all of which I've done. It was decent, honest work, and I know I was helping people and pulling my own weight in the world (arguably more than I am now!) but I'm certainly glad that I'm an artist these days. Everyone gets discouraged and cynical from time to time, and I will no doubt feel that way again, but today, I'm in a good place.

I am, however, incredibly busy from now until the end of the year (and a bit beyond) so I'll warn you right now that unless there's an extrordinary unexpected event, this may be my last post for a while... I've got so much on my plate, or so many irons in the fire, or however you want to imagine it, that other than filling my current committments I have no time to do anything else... including putting up posts here! But as for those committments:

I've just returned to Taos from a book-signing trip to the east coast, and that was fun and the turnout for Homefields was immense, and I'm proud of it. I'll be doing another round of book-signings in December in Alabama and Kentucky (check the gigs page for details) and I'm looking forward to 'em.

There's plenty of musical gigs in the works with Kim and the Caballeros and Bone Orchard and Radio Free Bassanda and even CHIPPER THOMPSON AND THE FEAST! Check 'em out!

I've finally posted another drawing in my as-yet-unnamed series, see the blog post directly below for that... and there's other secret plans for some graphic arts in the hopefully not-too-distant future....

There's also some positive changes in this website that you'll hopefully see pretty soon... I hope to have a dedicated page up just for Homefields and other books that I want to publish in the near future, as well as getting those dang MP3s up and running and getting some kind of on-line ordering system up, as well as general clean-up and reorganization. Stay tuned.

In the mean time, I want to close for now and give thanks for all my friends and family and comrades-in-arms in the arts for all the support and inspiration they give me. I get so discouraged at times, both with myself and my work, not to mention the grim state of my country and the world, that it's frighteningly easy to forget how good I have it. I bitch and complain all the time and I have to right to whatsoever. And here's some of the reasons why:

Kim Treiber, Karen Van Huezen, Ron and Kara, Eric and Meri and Ryan and Kylie, Kristen and Alan, Walter and Carolyn Treiber, Roger Landes, Mason Brown, Don Richmond and Teri McCartney, Kirsten Parsons, Lisa Wright, Connie Dover, Bone Orchard (Daniel and Carol Pretends-Eagle), Dr. Chris Smith, Angela Mariani, and their compatriots in Last Night's Fun and the Lubbock music scene, Brian Anderson, Chris Ferguson, Rick Smith and Morris Witten at the Brodsky Bookshop, Sonja Drakulich, Gari Hegedus, Paddy League, Bob Koenke and Judy Price, Chuck Wechsler, Gehrig Fry, Jackie Ahlstrom, Buck Monroe, "Even" Joe Hinesley, John and Joyce Beatty, Brooks Mastin, Mark Dudrow, Ben Wright, John Farr and all the other past and present members of the Young Gentleman's Oriental Society of Talpa, Stephen Owsley Smith, Tony Sutherland, G.D. Armstrong, Steve Piersol, Maria, Ed, and Hayley Hajic, Steve and Cyndi Kestrel, Tony Angell and family, Ross Matteson and family, Sandy Scott and Trish Smith, Veryl Goodnight and Roger, Gendron Jenson and Christine Taylor-Patten, Bill and Joffa Kerr, Steve Bodio, Tony Huston, Allegra Huston and Cisco Guevara and family, Mike and Catherine Koster, Doug Goodhart, Dan Beimborn, Bev Lawton, Rob Watt, Caroline Murphy, Robin James, Anna Schaad, Craig and Lynda Smith, Jenny vincent, Rick Klein and family, Charlie Strong, Tom Flannery, Andy Salamone, Paul Ried, Mark Bennett, Leonard Kasza, Lorne Clarke and family, John Dillon and Viv Nesbitt, Stephen W. I'm only 42 years old but I'm perpetually distracted and my mind is flabby and I have forgotten so many of you, but as you're remembered you'll be noted with love and links.
Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you.

Ordering HOMEFIELDS

Hey there, all y'all BanjoSnakers!

Sorry it's been so long since I've posted any news (since September! Jeez!) but man... have I been busy! Anyway, this one's gonna be brief, so I'll get right to the point:

I've been getting lots of inquiries, so if you're one of the folks who'd like to order a signed copy of my book HOMEFIELDS, The Art Of Lanford Monroe, all you have to do is call The Brodsky Bookshop here in Taos at 505.758.9468 and talk to the man in charge, Rick Smith. He'll set you all up and take all your info, then he'll call me and I'll head downtown to personalize you copy of the book, then Rick'll ship it to ya! No problem!

Thanks for all the interest and notes of support from everyone, and I'll see you soon!
