Neil Young announced the imminent release of his Archives box-set for 20 years before it was actually in stores. I'm starting to know how he must've felt. I've "announced" that I'm working on new recordings and all kinds of other weird projects for years now, but despite their maddeningly slow, plodding, shambling progress, I think some of 'em are about to arrive.

I've been recently inspired by Young's Archives, as well as a few other things: Songs From The Mountain by Tim O'Brien, Dirk Powell, and John Hermann; Searching For The Wrong-Eyed Jesus; my friend John Farr's self-published book Buffalo Lights; and the recently-resuscitated from near-death revival of my own damn band, The Feast (though we're changing the name, as soon as we think of something cool enough... but we're rehearsing! We're rehearsing!) not to mention the first creeping fogs of autumn - traditionally the best time of year for me.

This swirl of inspiration has been pretty chaotic and unfocused, and with the straight job thrown into the mix I haven't had much time or energy to actually do much with it. But I'm here to tell you: I've booked recording dates. I'm in conference with the above-mentioned John Farr for a website facelift. I'm editing some written words, and framing some visual art. Hell, I'm even dabbling with MySpace and Facebook, though it hasn't come to much yet. Slowly but surely, I'm working on it. Keep watching. Keep the faith. It's coming.... It's coming....
